Express the Ideas in Earlier Literary Works in a New Way

This term, which originally signifies a mortal transforming into an immortal's body, is applied to describe a literary technique. It entails using one's own words to interpret and restate the ideas from earlier works, resulting in something fresh. The key to this technique is learning from predecessors without revealing it and creating something novel simultaneously.

Huangu means employing more suitable words without altering the meaning of earlier writers; Duotai involves grasping a specific intention of an author and then elaborating on it more completely. (Shi Huihong: Evening Talks at Lengzhai)
